POSITION PURPOSE
A Level B/C academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
Reporting Line: The position reports to Head of Department


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, enhancement, quality assurance, course coordination, and the development of curriculum, materials, and learning activities for undergraduate and postgraduate units.
2. Deliver innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students
3. Collaborate with universities, government, industry, and communities to enhance research impact and educational excellence, while engaging closely with professional networks and the broader community.
4. Support the management of education, research, and administration in the School by participating in committees and undertaking administrative responsibilities related to the units taught, such as course review, admissions, and accreditation processes.
5. Provide feedback to students on their learning through student consultations
6. Contribute to the overall strategic planning and academic management of the School.
7. Contribute to the development of other academic staff through mentoring, coaching and effective supervision.


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
1. A doctoral qualification (PhD) or equivalent qualification
2. Demonstrated experience in the development of curriculum content
3. A strong record of teaching which demonstrates a commitment to educational innovation.
4. Experience in collaborating with partners from universities, government, civil society, and relevant industries.
5. Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration and teamwork
6. A P.Eng with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) in the field of Electrical Engineering.

    The School of Engineering continues to grow rapidly, particularly in the delivery of undergraduate programs, and through the expansion of its facilities and infrastructure. In addressing global engineering challenges of the 21st century, the expansion of research activities in our Malaysian campus is of high priority for the University, reflected by the significant increase of school collaborative partnership with the industry sector, and through the offering of the Higher Degrees by Research, the Master of Engineering Science (Research) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The School currently has more than 1,500 undergraduate students, consisting of approximately 90 academic staff, and 35 professional and technical support staff.

    The School offers the 4-year Bachelor degree in 6 departments: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering and Software Engineering. These are the 6 core departments of Engineering, driven by the strong and growing demand for capable graduates in Malaysia, the Asian region and beyond. The School also offers a Masters by coursework program.
